Help finding DIY synth 18 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi I'm new here. I remember some time ago reading a post in this forum (I think) about a DIY wavetable synth. It was made by some Swedish or German guys, cant remember. All I know it was around 250? price without the case and around 400? with the case. They also had a forum and posted the address here, but it appears as all posts before 1/1/2006 are gone and cant find it in Google either.

If anyone could remember their address or name it would be great.

Thanks!

that is not a cheap project!

must be really unique though, especially since they only have one customer! I love that they put him right on the front page - if someone here buys this kit make sure you are on the front page too!

Is everybody named Magnus in Sweden?

Also, for that amount of dough, you'd be better off with a DSI Evolver (it has digital oscillators and real analog filters, too).

Incidentally, the Monowave was a wavetable synth: http://www.modulus-music.com/products/monowave/ .

Its more about the do-it-yourself factor than anything else. I just sold my Evolver because, even though I did tons of patches for it, I just didnt use it at all. And I could get a waldorf microwave for the same price or less, but its just not as fun as having to build the synth from scratch :-D

The problem is I'm slowly running out of DIY synth projects

Hey, I'm really interested in getting a DSI Evolver (desktop): why did you sell yours? Was it too boring or inaccessable? That great synthy (SCI) sound is what I'm after...

Can you tell me your experience with it?

Hey glitched - I think the Evolver is probably the best 'bang for the buck' there is, specially 2nd hand. You can do really unique loops and sequences, and it has amazing modulation possibilities, but I just wasnt using it in my songs or in my studio.

One of the things that I didnt like was the dented encoders, which made it useless for any live tweaking. The same with the interface. The sequencer system, while good, was quite messy compared to the mono, too much time consuming for me.

Another problem I had was the integration with my live setup. I cant remember exactly what was, but I had problems triggering it from my mono or md (may be a problem of Elektron stuff). No problems with any soft sequencers though.

It has taken me a while to decide to sell it and I'm sure I'll regret it, but I'm not using it, so it has to go.

btw i got a chance to lay my hands on another swedish product, the minod synth -> http://www.minod.com/products/minodvorga/vorga.html
i gotta say it was really fun. sound was rather harsh, good for those who like it dirty. it had lot's of programmability (built in sequencer!) for so little of controls. worth checking out in deed.
