as host software, max/msp is not a necessity. anything progamming framework that does midi and OSC (open sound control) will do. the latter is a UDP network communication protocol intended for musical use but very suited for other applications as well. we use it a lot in my university research group.

i'm quite fond of max/msp myself. use it a lot at work. and with my knowledge of 'classic' synth technology i find it quite easy to program cool audio mangling stuff in max/msp. actually i'm preparing my first 'auditive' installation using max/msp as we speak. more info soon!

yeah, i haven't been asked for payment yet. as ryan said, it'll be a couple weeks. they're shipping as fast as they can build tho. i really hope i get mine soon. i've been talking with a couple of the developers and i'm gonna try and port serialio to xp for them but it's really hard to do that without a 40h in my hands!

anyway, you'll definitely hear something from me (bragging!) when i have this beauty in my hands.

I just found out they are still within the first 15 minutes of orders placed on May 1st.

They are still filling the orders that were placed 15 minutes after they announced they were accepting orders. Apparently, there is a log jam in the first half hour or so...then the orders became less frequent.
