Spectralis vs. Monomachine? 17 Years, 11 Months ago
Can any Spectralis users out there tell me about their experiences using the Spectralis vs. a Monomachine? Please compare intuitiveness, depth of programming, sound palette and ability to tweak live. I know it's apples and oranges to an extent, but within the scope of both being groovebox-styled synths, how do they compare?

It's expensive, for one.

For two, it's just a wavetable synth with analog filters.

To me, it seemed too "tame" and didn't have the grittiness of the MnM DPRO. The filters are pretty smooth though.

Check the audio demos.

Sold my Monomachine to go towards paying for a Spectralis. Don't regret it. I found the MM too digital for my liking. But it was definately easier to use than the Spectralis although I am still learning.

i take it your uses are mainly synthesis and not sequencing [other instruments] ?

would you agree that the monomachine is better for its interface and for sequencing external gear ?

thats my main interest in the monomachine, sequencing external stuff...

- mainly synthesis yes, but you can sequence other instruments, just not got into that (with Spectralis) yet but will do shortly.

- yes at the moment (since havent done much with Spectralis sequencing) and especially with parameter locks although the sequencing engine on the Spectralis is much more powerful than the MM

can you elaborate a little on the sequencing possibilities...

I dont own any of these synths but from what i ve heard the Spectralis sounds like the best most amazing analogue sounding synth ive heard and the monomachine sounds like you get those amazing crazy digital sounds.

I dont think theres a VS here there both completly different and if i had the money i would have both.
