I bought a polymorph off ebay from a german with 100% feedback since '02 ... i transferred the payment by BANK TRANSFER (i think its safer by paypal, seeing as they can step in if you do get ripped off...I think) ...anyways, he didnt post it by the first weekend cos he was 'sick' , then it got posted the following thursday (he messaged me) , now expecting it to arrive today or tomorrow I get another message in my mail box (Oh and paying by bank was my suggestion, he seems absolutely legit on the surface...but maybe paying by cash gave him an opportunity to rip me off ?)
"hi, sorry, stupid German Parcel ... had a problem with the address. They said they'd send your synth to Ireland by today."
ya...so now I can expect the parcel by friday if I'm lucky, but will probably have to wait another weekend...and on tuesday a box better arrive and not another message with poor grammar.
what do you think ? first time I've been jerked around like this and the alarm bells are ringing...or maybe I woke up on the wrong side of my cage ?

well he messaged me again, and reassures its all good - and was very defensive in fact when I said 'Its starting to look like I've been ripped off' ....I dunno, was that over the line ?....surely he can see where I'm coming from ?

Sounds legit - especially if there's an obvious ebay feedback situation at stake. I had a nightmare posting some gear from the UK to Switzerland, posted it fine and then it was two weeks in limbo before being returned by Swiss customs. I eventually discovered that because the Swiss are non-EU it needed a full invoice on the outside of the parcel and two more inside! Then I had to do it all again and try to get my money back from parcelforce, all the time knowing that it looked like a rip-off but the guy was chilled and it all worked out fine.

thanks for the reassurance zart...
anyways, most of his feedback comes from around '02 ...and then theres 14 positive transactions this year, about half of which he was a seller (he mostly buys/sells off germans) ... its possible he developed a raging crack habit since '02
or perhaps he's been reading stories to blind amputee orphan refugee's - and he's selling his synths to finance more 'big-brail' books with extra big nubbins so you can read it with a stump, or your forehead.

As well as great music, some of the best humor comes from this site!

i've had some issues with packages from germany but they all arrived in the end. sometimes it took 2 days, sometimes 2 weeks.
i don't wanna scare you but feedback doesn't say it all. i've had an encounter in which a synth sellers account with great feedback was hacked by a scammer. the idiot gave it away by offering me a 'brand new sealed roland tr909' off ebay...

Had this same problem. I was trying to buy an EMS Synthi AKS off some dude in Ireland. Good feedback. Turned out account was hacked. I discovered just before wiring my cash to him. It was also an outrageous deal ($2500 or so, when Synthi's normally go for around $6K), beware of deals that look too good to be true. Such as the 'brand new sealed roland tr909'. Big lesson learned there. But I was very relieved I didn't end up losing my money.

ThinkTanx, Since you know about the Synthi AKS in the first place I guess you already know that they still produce the Synthi A. The price tag wasn't too off of that actually. I did some quick numbers and came up with about $2900 for a new one. The seller might just have added a few letters http://www.ems-synthi.demon.co.uk/index.htmlHow did you realize the account was hacked btw?
