I own it. I like it alot. I like that it is an analog synth, and can be a digital synth,, and can be both...and then, you have the noise stuff (input and output hacks, grunge, tuned feedback etc)...it really is a unique machine.

what are the knobs like on the MEK ? do the knobs turn smoothly, or do they click on each step ?
I got to lay hands on a MEK at GC Manhattan last week. The only problem is that it was fried/unresponsive and the display and all LEDs were stuck on! The physical controls, layout, and build quality felt REALLY nice, though. Next time I'm there they better have it working.
I wonder what the keyboard weighting is like. I have the desktop version and use a M-Audio Axiom 25 as a controller. The combination is great; aftertouch, semi-weighted keys, velocity curves...it's awesome and much cheaper than a MEK.
Of course, you don't get the immediacy of all those wonderful controls at your fingertips.
