Did any Juno's really have digital oscillators? I thought they all had digitally controlled CEM chips.

oops - you are right. I was thinking of a Korg synth - something with digital oscs and analog filters. Sounded kind of like a juno though!

my money would definitely go to the MEK too. i'm sure the moog is a quality instrument with a good sound but what does it do that hasn't been done by synths for decades? on the contrary, the MEK is a unique synth that pushes things forward. that's what i like.

Even though I would also take the MEK, in this case I don't think it's justified to compare the synths on their specs alone...having played a voyager for a while now, it's apparent that there really is a certain undefinable interaction within the thing that is more than the some of the parts. True that the little phatty doesn't seem too impressive on paper, but I would certainly want to play one in person before writing it off.

sure, that's why i start with saying "i'm sure the moog is a quality instrument with a good sound"
i'm just more interested in innovative stuff

just for the record: i do have an MFB Synth II for this kind of 3 osc analog stuff. not that i wanna compare it to a mini but it's pretty sweet! (especially considering its size, price and joy of use with a knob for every single parameter)

But Lil' Phatty only has 2 oscillators, correct? Do people here agree that big phatty patches need 3 oscillators or 2 plus a sub-osc?

I would personally go for the MEK over Phatty, unless there's something spectacularly unique about Phatty's sound.

well don't pin yourself down on the number of osc's h?. it's not
about the number, it's about the sound they make. some classics only have one and sound amazing. btw, if it had 3, it would be very much like the voyager h
