Moog Little Phatty 18 Years, 6 Months ago
http://www.moogmusic.com/detail.php?main_product_id=227

very nice.

This is interesting:

"Moog will initially release a special, limited edition run of 1,200 individually numbered Bob Moog Tribute Edition synths.

The limited run, Tribute Edition of the Little Phatty has special Moog wood side panels, a Bob Moog signature plate across the front and rear, comes with a CD-ROM featuring highlights of the Bob Moog Memorial Celebration Service and a special Bob Moog poster. If you have been waiting to go analog, your wait is over."

Does this mean there will be a cheaper non-tribute model in the near future?

I have wanted an analog for a long time... one with a keyboard. I have also always wanted a Moog, but did not want a vintage model. The Voyager is very nice...but I did not want to spend $2800...or even take a chance on ebay for $1800 used. I like that it is simple... a great learning analog for me.

I think it looks like a cool little synth but I'm not lusting after one as I have a Voyager. Maybe that's blinkered of me, after all, every instrument has its own unique idiosyncracies. And I don't miss the third oscillator on my Rogue.

I hope the non-Tribute edition is much cheaper so people can get hold of a new analogue synth at a VA price. I reckon this is Moog's masterplan: everything about this synth looks like it's made to ensnare the young, new to analogue buyer. And then... onto the more expensive stuff!

I would have been much more excited by a polysynth. My Memorymoog, whilst gorgeous and fun to use, is very, very elderly and quite cranky. It'd be great to have a modern, more stable polyphonic Moog.

Here's hoping!

looks kinda nice. but i'd choose the DSI MEK before this. when moog releases their non-limited model for less than $1000 (or so i've heard), it will be far more appealing. the one thing no one really seems to know is how it sounds.... i think a lot of the judgement needs to be reserved until after it is heard.

my thoughts so far: the moog just isn't all that exciting for me.

I like the sound of all Moogs... I doubt this one will suddenly suck. However, you are right... the main thing is the sound. For me, the MEK isn't that exciting since I already have the desktop evolver.

If it gets under 1000$ ill get one. At 1475 there are so many other machines close to that I would rather get. I do want a real analog though, and a new one with patch storage sounds nice to me.

the one thing I dont like about this one is the panel, it doesnt move. Sounds like there will have to be a proprietary case made for "the lil phatty". Oh, i dont like the name either, which doesnt matter.
