just outta curiosity have you tried running them into an sp-1200, sp-12 or mpc60?Nope... that would be expensive and / or a pain in the ass. Not really willing to deal with vintage. Would love an SP1200...but will never own one. The other two I'm not interested in due to them either being too big (60) or too old (ie SP12).

Nope... the SP-1200 has always been expensive as far as I can remember. The MPC60 is only recently cheap. I've only had Akai's 2000, 1000, and 500 myself.

That's it: I want an MPC 2500! And I think I'm about to go exclusively Pro Tools for a bit. 7.4 has everything I get out of Ableton, it seems easy enough to use, and it sounds infinitely better. Unfortunately, I fuckin hate Digidesign!

we all hate digi. however, if you are used to using the pro tools there is no switching. plus their sh!t works. they are very good with updating the software. they might take 3 years to make a 10.5 compatible version of their software but it'll work. the new elastic audio might have ripped off ableton in a way, but man that sh!t sounds amazing. the sound quality and control is ace.
i track vox, guitars and such that involve miking. i would never even think about tracking and editing in any other program. without the playlists and editing workflow i am taking a step back.
don't get me wrong, i use Live, but more as an efx processor. and i have been getting away from the box in the creative stages more and more.
i keep threatening to do an album to tape, but i guess that will happen when i have the budget to buy a tape machine and a neve or api console. might be a few years.

Yep. I with ya 100% all around.
I have to have Pro Tools for all the post-production work I do. Plus, I came up using Pro Tools. I learned digital/computer recording using PT 5. Honestly, 7.4 is the first thing that has excited me about PT since then.
You ever ReWire Live into PT?? I've tried it once or twice but it didn't do a lot for me. Wasn't sure if I was missing something. Now, with the Elastic Audio feature, there seems little reason to.

I did have a lot more but am in the process of slimming it down, I do not use all of it at the same time. I like sequencers for their different feels and ways of working.
