The Synthex is interesting...definately a little 'acid box'. I haven't had more than 10 minutes with it though, so can't really comment yet. Trying to sell all three of those pedals before I get into them and won't want to sell them. I already have an acid chain i've been working with that I really don't *want* to mess with right now...and those graphex/synthex/morphex units just scream my name every time I'm in the studio...total distraction! They are all realllly well built.
I've had more time with the Graphex...and I like it a lot...the trigger lets you almost re-sequence a 303 pattern running through it...where a trigger is seen, the 303 note will play, but where it's not, the 303 not gets ducked. Net effect: plug your 606 into the trigger input and use the 606's sequencer (or your MD's impulse machine, etc.) to 're-sequence' your 303 pattern to better fit a tight groove. hard to explain but a worthy tool.
The Rozzbox...well... what can I say? Most 'character piece' I've ever owned. I have a strong emotional bond with it, and I only bring it out when I'm really feeling something emotionally I need to get out. The first track I did with it was for my girlfriend at the time. I can honestly say, it directly contributed to my desire to marry her...
http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2008/04/wrapping-rainbows-shagghi-rozzbox-demo.htmlHow many synths can you say THAT about. The Rozz is quirky to 'get around on'...but man...who the fug cares...it's one of those synths that you don't mold to fit your song...rather, you let it play what IT wants to do, and mold YOUR track to IT...it's THAT kind of an experience. There's a nice sequencer, a BBD delay, a sweepable bit reducer, and hack over drive, and 4 tubes inside..add it all up, and there's totally nothing like it out there...the 'best' of the digital world, and analog tube microphonix warmth. Some of the best PPG like brass ever. Amazingly perfect organ patchs (tubes, go figure)...and really awesome noisefloor stuff that when compressed makes for a monster of synth.
Bad things? Tubes need time to warm up. Doesn't always tune to 440 very well. Hard to find one for sale now. Can be un-ruley and quite painful in the distorted/dirty areas...thing metasonix, but sometimes even dirtier. After all... "Rozz Box" means 'Dirt Box' in German...
Not sure that Killian is going to stay in business much longer though... haven't spoken with him in several months actually.
