Uploading my track called "Resonate". All Machinedrum track, apart from some Live trickery. I didn't find the time to work as much as I wanted on it, but I need to be part of this.

A nice memory just came back to me: When we were working on the 45 tribute in honor of Daniel H, there were so many contributions that we had to go through a selection process to narrow down the number of featured tracks. But this irked Ryan immensely, so much that he insisted on releasing the "leftover" tracks on a separate album. I think he hated the thought of not honoring the efforts of the ones that didn't "make it". He would have loved the efforts that this project generates. It is very much in his spirit

as people have probably figured out, Ryan and I were close. I used to send him music sketches all the time. One of the most recent ones was a song that he really liked, but that he suggested I add another part/section to.

I've had z e r o time to work on music for the last two months, and I had resigned myself to not sending a track in for Actual Memories, or sending it in later. That was until I read what you just wrote, Nils. I was intending to finish the song as Ryan would have liked me to for the compilation, but now I'm going to submit the track and do an "Actuel mix" later. The two versions will probably show our different personalities, and can be two halves of a coin. so thanks for sharing, Nilsy -- it inspired at least me. =)

thanks for the thoughts, both of you. i have been seriously racing the clock on this and slowly coming to the realization that the track i got going for this will not be anywhere near complete. i find its incompleteness gives it a soothing openness. this community has a bit of everything in it so that patchwork quality might just the best thing about this upcoming album.

Well, I just want to say that from my point of view the more tracks the better, I really hope that a nice varied selection of styles will serve 3 functions

1. To cast a wide net, making the compilation have something for everyone, therefore plenty of sales

2. To help people discover music they may not have encountered before and broaden horizons, something that I feel is very much in the spirit of this forum.

3. Adding value, we already know the quality will be high, so quantity is a double whammy.

Of course I hope that we can gain sales from outside of this community too

Further to this, I don't think it would be fair to exclude any tracks, it would be a bit of a faceslap for someone to go to the effort of recording a piece only for it to be rejected, besides since we are not doing a physical release I see no valid reason for limiting the number of tracks - Tarekith has stepped up to the mammoth mastering task, so as I can personally attest to the finished job will be top notch.

Nils and PT - I'm really chuffed you both got tracks done, I really struggled myself too, in the end I scrapped 8 tries, instead I ended up doing a monomachine only piece that I felt reflected my feelings. Previous efforts were OT pieces that were more technical but I felt less suitable.

I think we are at around 27 tracks so far!

So glad you made it... and you M. You all know this already but ryan made such an amazing community here- Ive spend today chatting freely to nils and pt about various things, Im so thankful to for that- ive 'met' so many amazing and creative people here. Im going to really miss this place when it eventually switches over.

Wow. This page of the thread says it all about this community & the people that make it what it is,Ryan's spirit & legacy & even what awaits in the future.
I'm blown away by this place & the spirit it engenders & Actuel was at the heart of all of it.

I uploaded an old track of mine ('Ether of Waves'). an Odd out-of-key piece that probably doesn't fit in so easily, but what somehow reflects my feelings.

At first I thought I woud not upload anything, since I don't have much free time to make music nowadays (work, family, etc) and I wouldnt dare to upload anything old. But the tragic news of Ryan kept circulating in my head and I even had some restless dreams about it shortly after receiving news. The more I kept thinking about it, the more I felt stupid not to participate somehow - after all I've spent years here, community has inspired me in many ways and everybody else is participating. So I decided to go with a old track 'Ether of Waves' - this one is for Ryan.

I'm so happy that both Papertiger and Toni are submitting tracks!

And to everyone else who wrote on this page - thank you, your words are inspiring.
