if this new beast is even close to what Nils is suggesting then I'll be in I guess... If nothing else for Elektron style sequencing of CV & Gate. sick.

VCOs with dig filters / DSP sounds great : it's something different plus it'll enable all the usual Elektron p-lockery & other assorted goodness within a reasonably priced box. I very often run my analogues through the MnM...it's great, so I can totally see the logic of this, especially as if already mentioned it means we get a raft of filter types & other goodness

I'd still like Elektron to throw us something else digital into the mix.... like some granular, Phase Distortion...hell even some new BBOX type sounds would be great, but I feel they probably wont...
I still think the issue of the FX is up in the air - from the online flexidisc demo I'm sure I can hear what sounds like very analogue / bucket brigade type delay...but of course this could be DSP ( if you've heard Ken Macbeth's latest 'tape delay' demo then it shows pretty much anything is possible with chips ! ) & tbh I'm not really fussed either way. Just a selection of great FX would do me - hell even variants of what they've already put out already would do me.

Why no one has really done this before. since the 80s hybrids like 106 etc. Its a more 'tame' kind of sound than the juno 6 for instance

the 106 is not an hybrid synth...it has digitally controlled analog oscillators, like the rest of the juno family

real hybrids are represented by synths like the PPG wave, original waldorf microwave, ensoniq esq-1 and sq-80, korg DW-8000, kawai K3 and of course classic samplers like the emax, EII, EIII (just the keyboard), korg DSS-1, etc...all of them got the opposite scheme to this elektron box: digital oscillators with analogue filters

all of them existed because no "creative" design reason...they´re just a product of many forces like available technology, budget design, marketing, etc...this was just the era of the analogue to digital transition and all this synths shows what manufacturers did to manage such changes

the next breed of synths and samplers was full digital because analogue soon become expensive and hard to find compared with the rising digital technology

what we have here is a complete different design choose...today both analogue and digital could be done, both with their highs and lows, of course, but neither is a rare animal...you got zillion analogue synths coming everyday as well as digital stuff both in hardware and software

I think innovation is the main force behind elektron designs...of course you have to marry this with budget and availability of components to keep it real but I think they managed to do it quite good all this years

4 voice synth with Elektron style sequencer. Voltage controlled oscillators. By looking at the panel - 2 vcos pr voice?

Digital processing and control. Meaning, digital filters etc. I'm hoping they've been creative in this department, offering a broad range of filters, as well as waveshaping/multiplication/division.

CV/gate sequencer with dedicated tracks and dedicated outputs. I don't know how many tracks. Maybe two, since there are six track buttons - four for internal, two for external? Keep in mind dedicated outputs with DA converters pr track will take up real estate and drive cost.

Release: I was told 2013, but a lot might have changed in six months.

Cost: I have no idea.

Ugh, this is like 'Guess Who' - my least favourite board 'game' in the world.

Does it have ginger hair?
