I guess the one definite good thing that is coming out of this is that the SFX-6 is now a definite collector's item as there is not a MKII version of it.

I'm glad I've got mine

Very weak upgrades; massive disappointment. I don't think the Mk2 will devalue the MK1 in the marketplace by much $$$ at all - especially with the OS update. Sorry, to hear some people's brought an mk1 only a month ago and weren't given the heads up on the mk2 by elektron or the partners!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. There shouldn't be much of a dip in value with it. Not that I'm gonna ever sell it anyways!

So, I emailed Elektron about my current UW upgrade. Here is my email and Jon's response. I don't think he would mind me posting it.

me:

Now that the MkII's have been released, what of my MD that is there with you being upgraded? I am assuming it will come back to me as the UW Classic version. In that case, I must say that I am a little bit confused as to why you would offer these upgrades with the imminent release of the MkII.

Jon's response:

Because there is no way of upgrading the MKI's to MKII's. So if you have a Machinedrum MKI and want UW capability there is no real choice. Therefore we thought it would be fair to still offer the upgrades.

Also, we will of course support the OS of the MKI units as well. I can absolutely, positively inform you that you won't be left out in the cold.

congratulations to Elektron for releaseing new versions of their exciting machines in spite of going through hard times.

i hope you do well and sell a lot of these new units and have faith that you keep supporting my MDmkI in the same wonderful spirit you have shown so far. the news of the mkII have in no way diminished the fun I have had or will have with my mkI.

This WAVEs in the new monol?da, is it only in the digi:wave or also in the BEATBOX ?? that would be cool!

But i wonder if they will replace the old samples or will there be a new identical machine with the userwaves, so there will be 2 beatboxes and 2 digiwaves??

You're welcome. Congrats on getting to collab with so many great labels and artists. I hope to be there myself one day.

I have to say that I would be majorly surprised if we saw anything new from Elektron in the next year. They really are a very small company, which I think we forget sometimes. OTOH, I was majorly surprised that they did the MkII thing at all, so what do I know? Plus, it's not like these are totally new and different machines, so in that sense they may still have resources for something new.

I would really, really love to see something totally new.

This post makes for a very interesting read

My point of view on this is that I dont mind the that there are mkII versions as long as the os for the "Classic" is still being updated.

I do however have a little issue with my trust in elektron.

I am a big elektron fan boy so dont get me wrong! but

I bought the sidstation when they first announced that it was the last production run "ever"..... they then did two or three production runs after this, so was I lied to? I know they found more sid chips but you should not say last ever if it is not.

I then got a UW upgrade for my machine drum because again it was supposedly my last chance to do so..... looks like I was wrong again. (not that I regret getting the upgrade)

I just think that more communication from elektrons side (on this forum) would help a great deal.

come on, really? not everyone is upset they didn't make a polyphonic-sampler-efx box-sequencer-toaster-vagina box...I know i left some obvious features out

i'm stoked and so are many others. it's a nice refresh folks, and more importantly a needed one, in order to maintain the product line and support any endeavors into future products. some might even say, logical!?! Elektron have adamantly said, they plan to support the previous machines. don't worry, they still love you! (as do i) :-D
