Sorry if I've missed this but is there anything to say the new 'user wave' thingy in the Monomachine Mk2 can't be upgraded to the Mk1's via software and load new waves via MIDI?

All the rest of the hardware changes are pretty superficial to me.

congratulations to Elektron for releaseing new versions of their exciting machines in spite of going through hard times.

i hope you do well and sell a lot of these new units and have faith that you keep supporting my MDmkI in the same wonderful spirit you have shown so far. the news of the mkII have in no way diminished the fun I have had or will have with my mkI.

come on, really? not everyone is upset they didn't make a polyphonic-sampler-efx box-sequencer-toaster-vagina box...I know i left some obvious features out

i'm stoked and so are many others. it's a nice refresh folks, and more importantly a needed one, in order to maintain the product line and support any endeavors into future products. some might even say, logical!?! Elektron have adamantly said, they plan to support the previous machines. don't worry, they still love you! (as do i) :-D

bwahahaha
vagina-box? 8-)
hehe

I'm not really that pissed anymore, they had to do it because some of the components weren't available and stuff..
but the "MKII" name just gets on my nerves..
should be Rev 1.2 instead because MKII is just too much "better"

"which IMHO is a really silly thought... guys, get with it, both the machinedrum and monomachine are several years old and have been updated. really don't see the problem or cause for complaining in that. let alone the calls for free updates to mkI's"

For the Mono upgrades, we saw bug fixes. I may be alone in the belief that the Mono is still a work in progress. If the voice machine is taken seriously, there's trouble in paradise, IMHO.

There is just so much can be done with software upgrades. I have no knowledge of what can improve on the machines after production, but I'll check for machine upgrades periodically.

The Sps-1 Ctl-al was significant, and made a difference to users and the outlook on their purchase. At least I thought it was a big deal. Great idea for the ctrl=al on Master Effects, who ever said as much.

I don't see that sixty-four beats couldn't be done on the sps. Incidently, I think the parameter controls, particularly program changes, were reliable and easy to use. That's from a late bloomer, so I won't change machines anytime soon.

Except for the UW I doubt owners of new mk IIs and the fortunate few with a half-price used machine drum need os updates.

Just throwing in my two cents in hopes of seeing Ctrl for the Master Effects on the original MD/UW as well!

bip! lol

In my opinion, the new machines look good, still can't be certain of what I'm gonna receive but maybe this was the reason i've been waiting so long.

Honestly though I'd like to think that if i had the 'classic' then I wouldn't really be that bothered about Elektron bringing out this new model. Fair enough It's always nice to have the most recent version of anything but I could definitely see the reason for this update being due to the need to update the electronics inside it.

That's probably the reason why it's called the MKII and not the SPS-2 because it is essentially the same machine (unless it sounds well different). They've created it with the same layout just slightly thinner and with slightly more memory for samples. Ok, the 64 step sequences might be an added bonus but you can get around this on the original machine and seems as though they have updated it they might as well add some new features just to get the most out of it's new hardware. Both marks are similar machines so hopefully OS updates can cater for a lot in there slight differences.

You have to bare in mind as well as much as Elektron support their User Base they literally aren't aiming to sell these machines solely to us. Therefore I don't see this as a major Elektron release that everyone here should want to upgrade to (well, maybe for people who want a wavetable mono). They need to keep selling products to new people, the MD and MnM are their best selling products and if they needed a hardware upgrade to keep them going then surely this is better than them going discontinued.

Also on another note a MnM UW was not possible before. They have listened to us users so they have brought it out in on the new marks. There really should be no reason for people getting upset here because Elektron have just given us what we wanted which was not capable before, props to 'em.

Sounds like something more maybe in the pipeline. Anyone wanna ramble on some more about what it could be then get disapointed! lol :-D
