ha, i howered over the buy button of both new machines for about 20 minutes now. but i decided to stay with my MK1 machines. :-P

i was a bit frustrated at first. I was really hoping for something completly new. And my MK1s seem to be outdated now.

however, i'm happy to know that there will be nice, new, shiny machines if my MK1s should ever fall apart.

i think i will go home and play with my "classics" :-D

A couple more nuggets of info that I just got from Jon at Elektron about the new MnM:

1. The slots for the user waveforms are 1024 samples long. I guess that means that we're getting the ability to replace the wavetable in the DPRO-WAVE machine rather than any kind of UW or near-UW capability.

2. The new unit is approx 14mm slimmer than the old one.

He also hinted that they might be working on something completely new next. Exciting times!

i guess now we know that TM wasn't invented for "just" the uw. makes a bit more sense now, from a business/investment perspective.

user waves in the mnm, but still not an mnm-uw. o_O

come on you slags, we all know you've got more details!

I'm really hoping to see 64 step mode on the MK I MD, but I suspect we'd need to sacrifice something else to free up the memory. Personally, I'd be quite happy to lose half of the pattern capacity for it...

Same here. Best would be to have it as an global option. Basically, it could be solved by "linking" pattern A1 with pattern E1, A2 with E2 and so on, so you either can have 64 64-step patterns, or 128 32-step.

Amen !

And ... time for look-out for purchasing second Mono Classic for abt 400-500 euro. 12 tracks of Mono-mayhem - wooohooo!

and don't call them MK1, makes them osbolete, call them Classic with capital 'C' - a world of difference.

Always look on the bright side of life (whistles tune with sample rate reduced MD beat in the background)

:=)

or a second MD Classic. I could finaly make my dream of different pattern lenghts come true.

Come on people! Buy those MK2s and sell your Classics to the oldskool lovers 8-)

I don't think those updates were really that necessary for them to actually produce new machines..
ok, the monomachine is forgivable due to it's new wavetable feature (nice!)
but the md? what does the md sps-1 (non uw) mkII have?
"The MKII version adds a lot to the already feature-packed SPS-1. Slimmer design, world wide switching power supply, even better signal to noise ratio and last but certainly not least ? the pattern sequencer now has 64 steps!"
that's all?
it isn't anything that couldn't be updated via software, right? (except the sn ratio, which didn't bother anyone except those that didn't do it right)
when 2 64 step patterns are combined = 128? that's nice.

when will the OS upgrades come?

Elektron, we love you all and appreciate the effort!

ps. no TM-1 MKII? :-D
hehe

I can't wait to buy 2nd hand Monomachines Classic for $200 :-P

YES!
USE "Classic" for the old ones!
