enter song mode.. press record on the transport.. start jamming and switching patterns.. the song mode records all the pattern changes.. (just patterns and maybe mutes would be enough for me) and then you press stop and you can edit all the data as normal in song mode..
much better way of creating a song than the current way.

One thing I'd really like for the MD :
It would be nice if the tracks' leds light on even when the sounds are muted, so when you play with mute/unmute, and let's say you select another pattern with almost everything muted, you could see what's happenning.
