Hi all,

Thought I would share some 808ish/909ish drum sounds ... not for the MD but for the Monomachine. Wouldn't say these are perfect emulations but they should round out your BeatBox a bit more. Some details:

- the 808ish bass drum will boom more than anything in the BeatBox.
- the 909ish bass drum was more difficult to emulate (some slightly tricky LFO action was required) and is not as faithful as the 808ish one. However, it is tunable whereas the real 909 is not. I believe I put it at G#1 just like the 909, but you could change this. Also, changing the envelope and even pressing the stop key in mid beat can yield some nice changes. It's a starting point to work off of for other tracks.
- the 808ish hi-hats can also be changed into some basic claps and even snares. For snares, I think it might be hard to surpass BeatBox Snare 2 as this sounds pretty 808ish when pitched up, but you might like your own version.
- there are also some 808ish toms and various claps including a rough version of a reverse clap. I didn't see these as the most prominent things I needed so I did not work on them so much.

There's an audio sample in the zip - the first few bars are the 909 bd, the toms and the various claps while the second few bars are the 808 bd and the hi-hats.

With appropriate programming, you could put all of the relevant combinations that were of interest to you onto 2 tracks and still have 4 more tracks to work with.

Thanks to Daren for kicking this idea off. Looking forward to that sandbox

Have fun!

Loaded it tonight! Love it, going to base a tune around it I think. Always wanted a real 808. Bought the md and it always felt real good. But this makes my GAS for a 808 much more less.
Thank alot man.

You're welcome, enjoy! The 808 was always my favourite analog drum machine.

Thanks for the kit.
Now... I uploaded it to a specific kit space, all was well, but it looked like ti wiped all my patterns on group "E". Is there something I could have done differently to avoid this. This was my first time uploading something other than a sample or firmware update to the MD.
(UW MXII) I'm just not very versed on sysex and kits ..etc.

I uploaded a couple of kits to the files area, two kits and 2 audio examples of those kits, the first is a TR-808 kit, the second a DR-55 kit. Neither use samples so will work with any version of the MD. A readme file is in the zip which gives more detail.
