Cheers guys. I was thinking of doing a 909 kit and 606 too, was also thinking about 303 emulation on the mono, science lab/sandbox sounds like fun, hell why don't we have a go at doing all the classics?
I am pretty sure most things can be done, given that no emulation is going to be 100% accurate due to differences in controls, response, etc. But snapshot type sounds are very doable, for example I have done a few acid lines on my mono that sound very much like a 303 at certain settings, but start tweaking in realtime and the illusion is shattered.
For the 303 in particular a way around this is to use all 6 tracks with the same pattern and switch between them using the mutes like scenes. The advantage of this approach is that you can set the mono up with 6 very close approximations of different 303 settings without going outside the range of a 303, the disadvantage is of course that you are switching between rather than tweaking. Also it is quite time consuming.
How do we set up a science lab?
PS I did the 808 kit a while back and Amos very kindly hosted it, I did not realise that I could post it here until yesterday.
