i like the new hi-res encoders. The encoder turns faster now from 0-127, definitely speeds up tweaking!

yipes i don't think i'll be installing that

i like how slow they are

It's called "Mech".

Funny, I thought it was backwards too regarding the resolution. Finally realized that it took slightly less turns now, but that's counterintuitive

Turbocharge MIDI menu added to Global menu enabling up to
10x MIDI speed communication between compatible units.

I guess you just don't need a TM-1 if the other device supports Turbomidi, huh? Well, how many "compatible units" are there? The Ruin & Wesen thing is the only device I know of.

By the way, just tested and it doesn't work with the Monomachine (MKI).

Is that it?

that may just be the 'behavior' of the encoders.. turn them far in one turn and they go to a high value fast.. turn them slow and they creep through the finer resolution. many synths have encoders that behave like this.

or that's my guess. i haven't installed the update so can't check.

just my thoughts.

If the encoders on the mk2 are higher resolution then they will increment in finer steps than the mk1 therefore less physical movement = more digital movement.

I suppose the encoders would go through a divider to get your 127 anyway. It just depends on the ratio. they could be customised to work at loads of different rates.

Doesn't make any difference to me because I have a mk1. Gives us something to think and talk about though.

Does the mk2 have more resolution on the controls (screen readout) now?

Well, to me that says the new product will be "compatible" with TM-1 protocol.

And, that adds a bit more credence to the new-product-is-a-sampler argument. Although it could be that this is just the new way of doing things.

higher resolution... how does it work? Let's say I want the parameter to be at perfect center, and let's say the perfect center of this parameter is normally 64. On higher resolution, is there a value at 64, a different value at 64.5 and another value at 65?

I don't know if my question is clear... I guess I'll have to install the new OS and see by myself (probably most of the time this feature will be better than before)

The MnM isn't compatible yet since unit-to-unit turbo communication mode isn't available in the old OS. I guess we'll have to wait for the next version. And even then I don't really see what you would need to transfer between the MD and the MnM in turbo mode... Turbo syncing between units would be very NICE though.
