SPS-1 MK1 ----- Vs. ----- SPS-1 MK2 15 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi,
I have the chance to buy a second hand SPS-1 MK1 apparently for a quite cheap price ...
So I'm interested in understanding the difference between MK1 and MK2 version ...

Thanks in advance !
M!

Smaller form-factor, different PSU, balanced outputs... that's about it. UW model has a bit more memory.

More info around here somewhere...

If it's a regular model (not UW), in good condition and dirt cheap, I'd go for it. for UW I'd get MK2 just because of the extra memory (balanced outputs help too)

On the sps the only difference I beilieve is the pattern lenght- mk2 is 64 step max, mk1 is 32.
There might be other lttle things like less kit storage but that is the biggy...

You can chain patterns and song mode is great so Id say if the price was right you wouldnt be missing out on too much. .. unless of course you can stretch the extra for a UW.

Honestly I don't hear any difference between MKI and MKII.

My MK1 is very sensitive to the variations of electric power. Is it also an issue with MKII?

Finally my tracks 'll keep this old school style !

The noise floor is a lot lower on MKII (at least when comparing MnM MKI and MDUW MKII). From top of my head it was something like -60 dB vs. -90 dB when I measured it.
